Medigap Plan F  (Medicare Supplemental Plan F)  

Medigap Plan F is the only Medicare Supplement insurance plan that covers BOTH YOUR Part B Medicare deductible and Medicare “excess charges.”  An excess charge is the difference between what a doctor or provider charges and the amount Medicare will pay.  Because Plan F covers costs in excess of Medicare-approved amounts, you will likely have no out-of-pocket costs for hospital and doctor's office care with this plan.

Medigap Plan F covers:

• Basic benefits including:

1. Hospitalization: pays Part A coinsurance plus coverage for 1 year after Medicare benefits end

2. Medical Expenses: pays Part B coinsurance – generally 20% of Medicare-approved expenses – or copayments for hospital outpatient services

3. Blood: pays for the first three pints of blood each year 

• Skilled nursing facility care
• Medicare Part A deductible for hospitalization
• Medicare Part B deductible for medical and hospital outpatient expenses
• Medicare Part B excess charges
• Travel-abroad medical emergency help

Medicare Supplement Plan F is the chosen plan among the majority of seniors who are enrolling in Medicare for the first time. It is the only Medicare Supplement insurance plan that covers both Part B Medicare deductible and Medicare “excess charges.”  The plan covers costs in excess of Medicare-approved amounts.
